You don't need Fighting Lion equipped to complete the bounties on the masterwork. As title says, you need to have it equipped for the kills but don't worry about equipping it before claiming your bounties. EDIT: You can even have Fighting Lion in your vault and it will still count. I am beyond surprised by this.
