The DD system is fine system for small orders. But as the OP notes, if someone wants to put in a large order for work (let's say a dozen bagels, a dozen donuts, and 2 boxes of joe), you definitely want to be able to say "have it ready Thursday at 6am" or whatever.
Our scheduled raises takes our drive through time into account, every second matters. An order such as two lattes and a half dozen, I'd recommend giving 5-8 minutes in advance, I'd appreciate 8-10.
